Greetings family and friends, beginning at approximately 4am on 06/04/2022, Bill and fellow motorcycle rider Allyn Cole will begin an epic journey. Bill’s original goal was to complete a ride that would qualify for certification with the Ironbutt Association as a 50cc ride. (that is coast to coast in < 50 hours) To that end we will leave Oxford MS at approximately 4am on Saturday 06/04/2022 so as to reach Jacksonville FL by mid to late afternoon. We’ll spend the night and leave Jacksonville again by 4am (sticking with central time), get a gas station receipt, and start traveling west on interstate 10. Our goal for the first day will be to reach Ozona Texas where we’ve got a room to get some rest. With about 6 hours rest we will again go west on I-10 until we reach I-8 just south of Phoenix Arizona. We’ll then take I-8 the rest of the way to San Diego California. If that is all accomplished before 6:00am central time on 06/07 we will have successfully completed the Ironbutt 50cc ride. (btw… During the 50 hours of the Ironbutt ride, if / when I start getting tired, I may call some of you to help fend of the sleepy monster.)(Note: my helmet is equipped with a telephone headset.)
In any case once we have reached San Diego our plan is to ride several thousand miles visiting various sites including San Francisco, Sequoia, Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Pike’s Peak, and others. I have placed buttons below with links so that friends and family can follow along. The first link “Live Tracking Complete Trip” will follow us from start to finish for the 3 weeks we plan to travel. The second button will track only the time we have available to complete the Ironbutt portion of the ride. The rest of the buttons will show you proposed route maps that we may or may not follow exactly. (Regardless you can follow us live) To access the live maps you will be prompted for a password which I will send in a separate email. IF we succeed in completing ALL of the routes mapped below, we will have traveled more than 8175 miles by the time we return to Oxford MS.
